I’m a designer, technologist and soloprenuer based out of Victoria, BC, Canada. I have nearly 15 years of industry experience, spanning startups to fortune 500s. In the past I’ve worked as a product manager, product designer, UX engineer, UI engineer, design technologist, design engineer, software engineer - you get the point.

I simply have a passion for understanding problems, spotting opportunities, designing solutions and building products.

Today I work as a software solutions consultant for my own company, 2Fold. I help turn undiscovered potential into measurable value. Some of my most recent clients include: Disney, Intuit, Costco, and Brex.

Background

In 2010 I attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology where I studied new media, design and web development. Upon graduating, I was hired by my Photoshop teacher where I cut my teeth as a web designer and developer. For the next six or seven years I immersed myself in startups, where I rose the ranks of product design while committing as much code as I could. These years were some of my fondest. They taught me lifelong skills and contributed to everlasting relationships.

My passion for both design and engineering made it difficult to choose a career path. I had seen firsthand the value a hybrid role could bring to a team but career paths for a designer who codes were few and far between. So I decided to start my own company, 2Fold. I incorporated in 2020 and since then have been working as a soloprenuer contributing in roles where I can flex both my design and development skills.

Personal Life

Growing up in a small town on Vancouver Island, my life has been shaped by the simplicity and beauty of my surroundings. It's where I met Carolyn, a friend from high school with whom I reconnected years later, and now, we're partners in navigating life's adventures. Together, we share a home with our two dogs, Chance and Millie, and enjoy the simple pleasures of taking walks outdoors, experimenting with cooking – lately focusing on fresh pasta dishes – and exploring new breweries, cocktail bars, and wine bars.

Travel and stand-up comedy are among our favorite pastimes, offering us breaks from the everyday routine and a chance to indulge in laughter and new experiences. Embracing the seasonal traditions of Canada, I play ice hockey in the winter and golf in the summer, balancing my time between the ice rink and the golf course. Recently, I've developed an interest in Formula One, Jiu Jitsu, and carpentry, hobbies that challenge me and provide opportunities to learn and grow. These activities reflect my curiosity and a straightforward approach to life, always looking to try something new and build on my interests.
